What to Expect

We have all experienced the uncertainty of visiting a church for the first time. While we’ve tried to answer some of the most common questions here, please remember, there is no better way to get to know us than to actually join us on a Sunday morning!

WHEN IS WORSHIP?

Our main service is held every Sunday at 9:00am.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

Our address is 1500 Old Church Road, Streamwood, IL.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Wear whatever feels right for you. Our members’ attire ranges from suits to t-shirts and jeans.  Everyone is welcome here!

HOW LONG DOES WORSHIP LAST?

Usually about an hour – often a little shorter.

WHAT KIND OF SERVICE CAN I EXPECT?

A traditional but not overly formal mixture of scripture, preaching, music, and prayer. We also include an interactive time called Engaging the Word that is a little different each week. Communion is offered on the first Sunday of the month. Before entering the sanctuary, our ushers will give you a bulletin for that week’s order of service, which is also projected on large screens at the front of the sanctuary.

ARE CHILDREN INCLUDED?

Yes! Children are an important part of Immanuel United Church of Christ.  All children are welcome to attend our services.

IS THERE CHILDCARE?

Childcare is available for babies through preschool-age children during worship.

CAN I TAKE COMMUNION?

We celebrate an open table, where all are welcome to take communion. Both wine and grape juice are available, and we have gluten-free wafers as well as pita bread.

WHAT IF I HAVE MORE QUESTIONS?

Please contact us by e-mail office@streamwoodiucc.org or call us at (630) 837-0190. Better yet, join us for coffee hour after worship and introduce yourself. We look forward to meeting you and getting to know you better.
